Basement waterproofing costs — guidance, not a quote
Basement waterproofing is priced after an on-site inspection of where the water comes from, the walls and access. These factors move the cost up or down.

What drives the cost
- Which BS 8102 protection is needed: Type A tanking, Type C cavity drain membrane, or a combination.
- Size of the cellar or basement and how much wall and floor area needs treating.
- Condition of old masonry: removing plaster, salts and loose mortar before any system goes on.
- Groundwater level and whether a sump, pump and battery backup are needed.
- Whether the space is being converted to habitable use, which raises the grade of protection required.
- Access, ceiling height and whether services must be moved.
- Building Regulations, planning and Party Wall requirements for conversions.
Grants and programs
Some local authorities and water companies run flood-resilience or property-level protection schemes; check your council and the Environment Agency, SEPA or Natural Resources Wales for your area.
Why there is no price list here
Two basements that look similar can have very different water sources, wall types and access, so any fixed price would be guesswork. Official building and flood guidance is linked below.
